We hope you will enjoy your new music collection. We would like to give you some information on how to handle and store your vinyl records properly. Unlike traditional CD’s vinyl is a more delicate media, which requires gentle handling and a little bit of maintenance. If properly taken care of, you will experience the full warmth, charm and joy of listening to vinyl records, which will last for decades. The following advice is suitable for all types of vinyl records.
Vinyl records are vulnerable to low and high temperatures. You should never expose your vinyl records to temperatures below minus 5 degrees or higher than 30 degrees Celsius. Avoid direct sunlight at all times, and keep your vinyl records stored upright, and never stacked on top of each other.
To avoid fingerprints and dirt, you should always handle your records in the same manner. Avoid contact with the playing / grooved surface. Instead handle the record by the edge and the labeled surface only. Remove your vinyl record from the inner dust sleeve by letting it slip gradually into an open hand so that the edge falls on the inside of the thumb knuckle. Proceed by handling the record as described above.
A bit of static and “crackling” noises are part of the natural charm and listening experience of vinyl records. Usually this can be reduced by regularly cleaning your records with a special made carbon fiber vinyl cleaning brush. Over time a certain amount of “crackling” noises will occur caused by the regular playing of the record, this is perfectly natural.
In case of brand new vinyl records, a small amount of residue from the production can lead the pickup to skip sometimes. This can be avoided by cleaning the record with a special made carbon fiber vinyl cleaning brush as mentioned above. Sometimes a little dust might gather on the pickup itself, which can also cause the needle to skip. This can be solved by cleaning the needle with a special made pickup cleaner and brush.
